JOINT RESEARCH

As a trusted research partner connecting society and technology,
the Quantum Software Research Center is engaged in joint research with companies,
working on solving social issues and creating next-generation technologies.

The Quantum Software Consortium recruits partner organizations for joint research on Projects 2 to 7. This initiative is open not only to participants of the Quantum Software Study Sessions, but also to companies from a wide range of industries.

Regarding the Membership Categories of Joint Research Institutions

Companies that participate in joint research projects with us are registered as official members of the Quantum Software Research Center. As member organizations, they are invited to publicly share their collaboration with the center and are welcome to utilize the research outcomes for public relations and corporate branding.

  • Using research results in recruitment campaigns and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting

Inquiry and Consultation

We accept inquiries regarding joint research with companies or organizations. Please feel free to contact us regarding your research goals and interests. You can also reach out via our inquiry form. here .

Initial Hearing and Researcher Matching

Based on the consultation, we will introduce the most suitable researcher(s). Online or in-person meetings may be held for technical discussions as needed.

Forming Agreement on Joint Research

We will confirm the basic agreement regarding the research topic, duration, structure, and cost in coordination with the assigned researcher.

Submission of Application Form

Once the agreement is formed, please submit the Joint Research Application Form.

Preparation and Execution of Contract

We will prepare and conclude a Joint Research Agreement, taking into account relevant legal and ethical considerations. Estimated time to contract approx. 1–2 months after initial contact (may vary depending on complexity).

Invoice Issuance and Payment

Based on the agreement, we will issue an invoice for the research expenses. The invoice will be issued by the Accounting Office of the researcher's affiliated department , approx. one week after the contract is finalized.

Q&A

Are there any membership or annual fees to join the Quantum Software Consortium?

No, there are no membership or annual fees. However, participation fees for study sessions, academic consultation fees, and joint research costs may apply depending on the activities within the consortium. Please note that academic consultation and joint research fees are determined through discussions with each participating company.

What are the typical duration and cost of joint research for Associate, Full, and Special Members?

The duration and cost of joint research projects are determined in consultation with each company, based on the specific research content. For details on the cost breakdown, please refer to the "Research Expenses" guidelines provided by Osaka University's Co-Creation Bureau .

Can companies participate in study sessions while engaging in joint research?

Yes, this is possible. The participation fee for the study sessions is ¥330,000 (including tax) per person per year. However, for Full and Special Members, one participant can attend the study sessions free of charge for every ¥2.2 million contributed to joint research. Please note that it is acceptable for the study session participant and the joint research assignee to be different individuals.

※ Participation beyond the free allocation is subject to additional fees.

Does participating in the Quantum Software Consortium mean we are automatically involved in JST projects?

The Quantum Software Research Center has been selected as part of the JST COI-NEXT Program for Co-Creation . However, consortium participation does not automatically imply participation in JST-funded projects.

What does "contributed resources" refer to?

Contributed resources refer to the assets or resources provided by member companies for use in joint research with the university.

What should we do if we’re unsure whether our current research topic is suitable for joint research?

Please feel free to contact us via the inquiry form on this website. After an initial discussion to understand your needs, we will propose possible academic consultations or researcher matches. Please note that such consultations do not guarantee the initiation of a joint research project.

Can we propose joint research at any time, or is there a specific period?

There is no fixed schedule — we accept inquiries on a rolling basis. However, please be aware that during holidays or busy periods (such as year-end or university events), responses may take longer.

What is academic consultation?

Academic consultation involves researchers from the university providing expert advice and guidance based on your company’s needs. After giving an overview of your request, we will explore suitable researcher matches. Please ensure your consultation topic is clearly defined. Kindly note that matching with an appropriate researcher may not always be possible.

Can our collaboration with the center be used for publicity?

Yes, companies may use the collaborative achievements, as well as the university or center’s name and logo (upon request), for public relations purposes. However, any publicity involving unpublished research outcomes, intellectual property, or confidential information must comply with the terms outlined in the joint research agreement.
